![]() ![]() Go to ~/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/Civ6.app/Contents/AspyrAssets/global/String If you were frustrated recently with the version mismatch of Civ VI when trying to play online between Mac and PC, here is a fix : Haven't tested it myself so not sure if it works yet, but will in a couple of hours. Try this maybe, someone sent me the link on reddit. If anyone has insight on this issue or any idea when we’ll get cross-platform play between Windows and Linux back, please comment! If this is a permanent change, what a waste of our money! :’( ![]() I’m confused as to why they would release an update that removes a very important feature of the game. ![]() But apparently in the last update they actually _removed_ cross-platform compatibility between “PC and Mac”, which I assume also means between Windows and Linux. The frustrating thing is that I’ve played quite a lot of hours with friends who run the Windows version of the game, so I assumed it would work. We went to play it only to discover that there’s a version mismatch. Originally posted by benssoon:I’m in the same situation! If this is a permanent change, what a waste of our money! :’(ĮDIT: for clarity, we currently each have our own copy of the Steam version of the game. I’m in the same situation! My fiancé bought the game yesterday for the sole purpose of playing it with me. I convinced a friend to spend 60 dollars yesterday only to find that he was unable to play post by cloud game, this was the only reason he bought the game. Is there an ETA on restoring cross-platform support for Mac and Windows? Would it be possible to have a rollback option to the last cross-play compatible update, by using the beta system, similar to the way Paradox updates games? If neither are possible then the pinned post should be modified to reflect the fact that the feature advertised is not working at the moment. "UPDATE 07/19/18 - Cross Platform multiplayer is now available between Mac and Windows!" I feel bad for wasting his money, at least for the momenet until crossplay is fixed, since he bought it literally just to use the advertised play-by-cloud feature. When I walked him through setting it up we were unable as his Mac was on a earlier version. As I mention in more detail below, I convinced a friend to buy the game at full price (60$) just so we could do play by post since setting up any other multiplayer game (Civ 6 or not) wasn't possible. I'm trying to figure out a way to do a Post by Cloud game with my friend. I'd like to know what the current versions of the Mac and Linux versions of Civ 6 are? I know Windows is 1.0.1.501, but I was wondering where the Mac and Linux versions are listed to make sure they match.Īlso can the Windows version of Steam be run on Mac through WINE in order to use the Windows version on Mac for cross-play? Also are the Linux and Mac versions capable of cross-play at the moment? Can anyone suggest something like WINE that can run a virtualization of Linux with minimal performance loss. ![]()
